The story behind the name rigby...

As many of you may be wondering… I have not yet given an explanation to everyone as to why this site is called rigby in the first place. I suppose many of you may have questions so in this post I am going to explain the etymology of this great website’s name.

To explain this, we need to first understand a bit about programming languages. There are two of which I’m going to touch on. The first of these is Rust. Rust is a relatively new programming language by Mozilla, who you may know from the FireFox project. This programming language is pretty epic as they say… but I digress. I’m not even sure why I brought rust up as it’s not relevant at all.

C is the actual language I will be talking about. Basically, it’s pretty hard to learn because unlike rust it doesn’t have helpful error messages or a BORROW CHECKER. So anyways, epic cool dood bdingo, who has an account on rigby check him out… ;) Decided that he wanted to make a programming language. This was the chat log following:

bding:
gu es
use the GRID

luke:
H
ok i will
use
the
grib

bding:
grib
all right what should i call this LANGUEG

luke:
get frickin hacked!
Obama the libtard just got hacked!

bding:
griblang

And thus, the start of an era. Eventually, although bdingo tried to persevere through the lack of great tooling for C, it was all for not, as he is yet to finish GRIBlang, which he started working on in September of 2018…

BUT, luke, the protagonist of this story had other plans… when working on his new social media website, which was at the time UNNAMED, he came up with the idea to call it RIGBY, which, if you’re paying any attention… is awfully similar to ANOTHER project we all know and love.

The end
